Kermit Jones

Colonel (retired) Kermit C. "K. C." Jones was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant in the Air Defense Artillery after graduating from the United States Military Academy in May 1982. He has served in a variety of command and staff jobs throughout his career. His culminating assignment was as the Military Deputy for the Deputy Assistant Secretary of the Army, Procurement.
K. C. is a graduate of the Industrial College of the Armed Forces from which he earned a Master of Science in National Resource Strategy. He holds a Bachelor of Science from West Point and a Master of Science in Material Acquisition Management from the Florida Institute of Technology.
His Military schooling includes the Air Defense Artillery Basic and Advanced Officers Courses, and the Army Command and General Staff College. His early career was spent in Italy where he served in a variety of leadership positions with the 559th Artillery Group as a Nike Hercules Officer. Later, as a PATRIOT Officer, he served as a Battery Commander and Operations Officer for the 11th Air Defense Artillery Brigade. From 1990 to 1992 he served in various capacities as a Personnel Officer for both the Adjutant General at Fort Bliss, TX and subsequently, the U.S. Total Army Personnel Command in Alexandria, VA.
K. C. was accepted into the Army Acquisition Corps in 1993. His initial acquisition assignment was with the Defense Supply Service Washington as a Branch Chief. Subsequent assignment was with Defense Contract Management Command, Saudi Arabia, where he served as Director of Operations. He later served with the Office of the Assistant Secretary of the Army, Research Development and Acquisition, where he held duties as a procurement officer in the Systems Support Division. His first acquisition command assignment was with DCMA St. Louis which was followed by a command assignment at DCMA Long Island.
His military decorations include: the Legion of Merit, the National Defense Service Medal with oak leaf cluster, the Defense Superior Service Medal, the Defense Meritorious Service Medal with oak leaf cluster, the Kosovo Campaign Medal, the Army Meritorious Service Medal with 2nd oak leaf cluster, the Army Commendation Medal, the NATO Defense Medal, the Ranger Tab and the Parachutist Badge.
K. C. is married to Luwanda F. Jones, COL, U. S. Army. They have two children, son and daughter, Marcus and Caryll. Both are college students attending Temple University in Philadelphia, PA.
